Tattoo Prices in Bali 2026: What You'll Actually Pay
What a tattoo actually costs in Bali in 2026: real IDR and USD ranges by size, why we price per design and never per hour, and what a deposit covers.

Here's the honest answer: at a professional studio in Bali in 2026, a small fine-line piece under 4cm starts around 850,000 IDR, a small custom piece (3–5cm) runs 1M–2.5M, a medium piece (5–10cm) 3M–9M, and large work 5M–15M.
At Amor Fati (three studios in Canggu, Uluwatu and Seminyak, rated 5.0 across 1,500+ Google reviews) you approve the design and the exact price before the needle touches skin. We price per design, never per hour.
The 2026 price ranges, in one place
These are the ranges we actually quote at our three studios. Every professional studio in Bali sits somewhere near them. If a quote is far below, it's worth asking what's being left out.
- Fine-line flash piece, up to 4cm: from 850,000 IDR
- Small custom piece, 3–5cm: 1,000,000–2,500,000 IDR
- Medium piece, 5–10cm: 3,000,000–9,000,000 IDR
- Large piece, 10–20cm: 5,000,000–15,000,000 IDR
- XL and multi-session projects: 12,000,000–30,000,000+ IDR
The exact number depends on detail, placement and style (more on that below). Card payments carry a 3% surcharge at every studio, so cash is the better deal.
Why we price per design, not per hour
Some studios run a clock. We don't.
With hourly pricing, a careful artist costs you more than a rushed one. The incentive is backwards. When you pay per design, you approve the design AND the number before anything starts, and the artist being fast or slow never changes what you pay.

What moves the price
Five things, honestly:
- Size. More skin, more hours of work — the biggest single factor.
- Detail level. A fine-line peony with twenty leaves is a different job than a minimalist outline of one.
- Placement. Ribs, hands, neck and feet are slower, tougher skin to work, so they price higher than an arm or thigh at the same size.
- Style. Realism and micro-realism carry the highest skill premium; solid blackwork and geometric are more time-efficient at the same size.
- Custom design work. At Amor Fati custom design is included. You're paying for original art either way, so we don't bill it twice.
Style by style — what to budget
Fine line
Bali's most requested style, and technically unforgiving: single-needle work shows every wobble. Small pieces start around 850K; a detailed fine-line composition of moderate size typically lands 1.5M–4M. Multi-session fine-line sleeves are quoted per project.
Getting inked on the Bukit? We've broken down what fine line costs in Uluwatu separately.
Realism & micro-realism
The most time-intensive work we do. A forearm-scale portrait or wildlife piece generally sits in the 5M–15M large-piece range; micro-realism costs similar money at a smaller size because the precision required is even higher.
Blackwork & geometric
More time-efficient per square centimeter: a well-executed geometric forearm piece typically runs 2M–5M.
Color work
More passes, more ink, more time — plan for the upper half of whichever size range you're in.
Floral & illustrative
Our bread and butter. A thigh bouquet typically lands 3M–8M depending on detail and size.
Does the area of Bali change the price?
Less than you'd think at the professional end. Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu studios that work to international hygiene standards all quote in the same ranges. Ours are identical across our three studios.
The very cheap prices you'll see in some tourist strips are real, but they're a different product: different inks, different pace, different standards.

Why the cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest tattoo
No scare stories, just math.
A studio charging 300K for an afternoon of work can't be paying for single-use everything, quality ink and a trained artist. The numbers don't add up. Something in that list is missing.
Our one non-negotiable piece of advice, wherever you go (including us): watch the needle come out of its sealed packet. If you can't, walk out.
And the second bit of math: laser removal in Bali runs 500K–2M per session, usually 6–12 sessions. A 300K tattoo you regret can cost 15M+ to undo.
Slow down, choose well, pay once.

Tipping isn't mandatory in Bali, and nobody at our counter will hint at it. If your artist made your week, 10–20% is a kind gesture they'll genuinely appreciate.
How to get a real quote (not a guess)
Send three things on WhatsApp: your reference image, the size in centimeters, and where on your body it goes. You'll get an honest range the same day, and the final number is agreed with your artist before the session starts, never after.
Send your reference, size and placement and you'll get a real price range the same day. No pressure, no follow-up spam: WhatsApp Canggu · WhatsApp Uluwatu · WhatsApp Seminyak
Frequently asked questions: tattoo prices in Bali
How much does a small tattoo cost in Bali? A small fine-line piece under 4cm at a professional Bali studio starts around 850,000 IDR (roughly USD 50). Small custom designs of 3–5cm typically run 1M–2.5M IDR depending on detail and placement.
How much does a fine line tattoo cost in Bali? From about 850K IDR for very small pieces; a detailed moderate-size fine-line design typically costs 1.5M–4M IDR.
Why are some tattoos so cheap in Bali? Very low prices usually mean the studio is saving somewhere: ink quality, artist experience, or single-use equipment. Whatever studio you choose, ask to see needles opened in front of you; a professional studio expects the question.
Can I negotiate tattoo prices in Bali? Professional pricing reflects the artist's time and real hygiene costs, so we hold our prices. If budget is a concern, say so openly. We'd rather adapt the design to your budget than cut corners on the piece.
Does Amor Fati charge extra for custom designs? No. Custom design is included in the price of every piece. The number you approve covers the artwork and the session.
Do you charge per hour? No. Per design, always. You know the exact price before the session starts, and a faster or slower artist never changes it. Card payments carry a 3% surcharge; cash doesn't.
