Portraits, animals and photographic detail in black and grey. The longest-format work we do and the least forgiving — realism has nowhere to hide, because everyone looking at it already knows what the subject is supposed to look like.
Filters open the full portfolio with that selection applied.
Every realistic tattoo has a minimum size below which the detail carrying the likeness cannot physically fit. For a human face that is usually around 15cm; for an animal, 10cm. Smaller than that and you get an impression rather than a likeness.
This is the conversation we have most often on realism enquiries. We would rather tell you the piece needs to be bigger than take the booking and hand you something that does not look like the person.
A realism tattoo can only be as good as the photograph it comes from. Sharp, high resolution, good directional light, taken straight on. A dark, low-resolution or heavily filtered image does not contain the information the tattoo needs, and no artist can invent it.
Send the largest original file you have rather than a screenshot or a social media re-upload. It is genuinely the highest-leverage thing you can do for the result.
The instinct with realism is to keep everything soft and mid-grey. That reads beautifully at two weeks and disappears at ten years. Real blacks and clean untouched skin are what hold a face readable as the skin ages.
So our realism tends to be a little more contrasted than the reference photograph. That is deliberate, and it is what the piece will thank you for later.
A realism piece of 15–20cm runs 8M–15M IDR (≈ $495–$930). Larger and multi-session work goes beyond that and is always quoted after a consultation. Nothing at this scale is priced over message.
We price the whole piece up front, not per session, so you know the number before we start rather than after. Free 20–30 minute consultation to get there.
Most realism runs across two or more sittings of 4–6 hours, spaced at least two to three weeks apart so the skin recovers fully between them. Rushing that spacing is the most common cause of patchy healing in large work.
If you are visiting Bali on a short trip, tell us your dates before booking. We will tell you honestly whether the piece fits your trip or whether to start it and finish it next visit.
Realism is the most artist-specific work we do. Send your reference in the enquiry and we will route it to the artist whose portfolio actually matches — across Canggu, Uluwatu and Seminyak, all at the same standard and prices.
Consultations are free whether or not you book.
A realism piece (15–20cm) — 8M – 15M IDR (≈ $495 – $930). Priced per design, never per hour. Card payments carry a 3% surcharge, stated before any link is sent.
Often, yes — but the photo sets the ceiling. Send the highest-resolution version you have and we will tell you honestly what is achievable before you commit.
We do most realism in black and grey, and in this climate it holds up better. Colour realism is possible; we will talk you through how it will age here first.
It is quoted after a consultation, always. A sleeve is a multi-session commitment and we price the whole piece rather than the hours.
Because the detail that makes it a likeness has a physical minimum size. Below it, the features blur together within a few years.

Tell us what you're carrying and where you want it. We'll draw it, quote it once, and hold a slot for you.
All three run the same level of artists, the same standard and the same prices. Pick whichever is closer, we answer on WhatsApp.
