The tattoos people come to Bali for: a Barong mask, a sea turtle from a dive off Nusa Penida, frangipani from the temple offerings. Work that means something because of where you got it — which is exactly why it is worth getting the meaning right first.
Filters open the full portfolio with that selection applied.
Balinese iconography is religious, not decorative. The Barong is a protective figure in an active faith with a specific role in temple ceremony, and the Om symbol used across the island is Balinese Hindu, written in a script with its own rules. These carry meaning for the people around you here.
We will tattoo them, and we will tell you what they mean first. If you want a design based on a temple carving, bring a photo of the actual carving rather than a Pinterest reinterpretation of it — the difference is visible to anyone Balinese who sees your arm.
Sea turtles, manta rays, geckos and reef life are the most requested animal work in all three studios, and most of it is booked after a dive. A turtle from Gili, a manta from Nusa Penida — the design is usually specific to something the client actually saw.
These read best in fine line or light dotwork at 6–12cm. Larger, they start asking for realism and a different conversation about sessions and price.
Frangipani is the flower of Bali — it is in every temple offering on the island, and it is the single most requested botanical we tattoo here. Hibiscus and lotus follow. The lotus in particular carries meaning in Balinese Hinduism and is worth understanding before you wear one.
Frangipani works small and clean; five petals, minimal shading, and it holds its shape for years. It is one of the best first tattoos we do.
A Bali memory piece at 6–10cm runs 1.5M–5M IDR (≈ $93–$310). A small frangipani or single turtle starts at 850K IDR (≈ $52). A Barong or a full ornamental leg panel is larger work, quoted after a free consultation.
Everything is priced per design rather than per hour. Send your reference, the size in centimetres and your placement, and we will give you a range the artist confirms.
Most people booking these are on a trip, which changes the aftercare conversation. A fresh tattoo cannot go in the ocean, a pool, or direct sun — realistically that is your first two weeks. If you are here for ten days and want to surf, book it for the end.
We say this before you pay a deposit rather than after. A holiday tattoo that heals badly because it went in the sea on day two is a worse outcome for both of us than a rescheduled appointment.
All three studios — Canggu, Uluwatu and Seminyak — run the same artists' standard, the same needles-only practice and the same prices. Pick whichever is closest to where you are staying. Uluwatu is the one most people combine with a dive trip.
Every studio is open daily, and every consultation is free whether or not you book.
A Bali memory piece (6–10cm) — 1.5M – 5M IDR (≈ $93 – $310). Priced per design, never per hour. Card payments carry a 3% surcharge, stated before any link is sent.
Not inherently — but the specifics matter. A Barong or an Om is religious imagery in a living faith. Understand what you are wearing and place it thoughtfully; we will not tattoo sacred imagery below the waist, which is a real convention here rather than a preference.
Not for about two weeks. No ocean, no pool, no hot springs. This is the single most common reason a holiday tattoo heals badly, so plan the timing around it.
Yes, with the exact characters confirmed by someone who reads it. Bring the wording verified and we will draw it properly.
None while it is healing, and sunscreen forever after. Bali sun is the main reason tattoos here fade faster than the same work done in Europe.

Tell us what you're carrying and where you want it. We'll draw it, quote it once, and hold a slot for you.
All three run the same level of artists, the same standard and the same prices. Pick whichever is closer, we answer on WhatsApp.
