Where you place a tattoo shapes how it heals, how it ages, and how it reads on your body. Before you book, think past the design — think about placement. It's the decision most first-timers rush, and the one that separates a tattoo you love in ten years from one you're already planning to fix.

Some Spots Hurt. A Lot.

Ribs, inner arms, and feet carry more nerve endings and less muscle padding — expect a sharper session. Outer arms, calves, and thighs are more forgiving, with flatter skin and steadier healing. If this is your first tattoo, we'll always walk you through the pain map before the needle touches skin.

Your Design Doesn't Fit Everywhere

Placement also dictates scale. A fine line piece disappears on a shoulder blade but holds its detail on a forearm. Bold blackwork needs room to breathe — wrists and ankles crowd it, while a calf or back gives the linework space to age well over the next 20 years.

We Map Placement Before We Draw a Line

At Amor Fati Tattoo Studio in Bali, every consultation starts with tattoo placement, not just the design. We map size, visibility, and healing time against your lifestyle — surf, sun, and sand included — so your Bali tattoo holds up as beautifully as the day you got it. Book a placement consult with our artists before your next session.
