Tattoo Aftercare in Bali: How to Protect Your New Ink
Just got fresh ink? Discover the essential tattoo aftercare in Bali tips to prevent infections, protect your design, and keep your new tattoo looking vibrant.

Getting a tattoo is only the beginning. How you care for it in the days and weeks that follow determines how beautifully it heals — and how long it lasts. At Amor Fati Tattoo Studio in Bali, we believe aftercare is as important as the artistry itself.
The First 24 Hours
Your artist will cover your new tattoo with a protective wrap. Leave it on for the time recommended — typically 2 to 4 hours, or up to 24 hours if using a second-skin bandage. This keeps bacteria out while the skin begins to heal.
Days 1 to 7: The Healing Phase
Once the wrap is removed, begin a gentle care routine:
- Wash gently with unscented antibacterial soap, 2–3 times a day
- Pat dry — never rub — with a clean paper towel
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturiser (Bepanthen works well)
- Avoid submerging in water — no ocean, pool, or long baths
- Keep out of direct sunlight

Weeks 2 to 4: Peeling & Itching
Peeling is normal. Do not pick or scratch. The skin will itch — this is a sign it's healing. Let it peel naturally and keep moisturising daily.
Long-Term Care
Once fully healed, apply SPF 50+ sunscreen whenever the tattoo is exposed to sunlight. UV rays are the single biggest cause of tattoo fading over time.
At Amor Fati, we craft art meant to last a lifetime. Treat it accordingly.
